Charlestown quahog pearl

Charlestown quahog pearl

My favorite beach is in Charlestown,RI. With Charlestown Pond just behind the beach, I never miss a chance to take a beautiful walk through the pond and find a few quahogs for a snack when I get home. On July 15 2015, sitting in the kitchen with my newly steamed harvest, one quahog on my plate looked different. I quickly realized I had found a pearl! After about 15 years of clamming in the same area, I never gave any thought to finding something this rare! We were all very excited by the discovery alone. Regardless of the value of the pearl, the rarity of this discovery for me will definitely be one of the highlights of this summer.Hope it doesn`t take another 15 years to find another!!
