A Business Woman Invests in Melo Melo Pearls

Three Orange Melo Pearls

Three Orange Melo Pearls

I couldn't stop looking at the melo pearl when one of my friends introduced it to me a year ago and she told me the price that she wanted to sale it for was $2,000.00 USD/ct. I cannot believed it....I thought that I could never own a melo pearl, although, I would love to have one, as an Asian, we believe to own a melo pearl brings luck to you.

Then last year, I met a gemstone dealer through my friends, I bought a very nice piece of yellow sapphire from him and we became very good friends. When I told him about the melo pearl, he immediately told me that he knew a melo pearl dealer, so he took me to the place where I could buy a melo pearl. After an hour drive by car around Ho Chi Minh City, we arrived at the home of a melo dealer. The dealer did not want to show me his melo pearls. He named a few people whom also were melo pearl dealers and told me he can give me their contact if I was interested in a melo pearl. After an hour chatting with him, he told me, "I was charmed enough to bring out the gems. There was fate that brought us to know each other." Therefore, he give me a favor to see his 5 melo pearls and that was all he had at that moment. It took him 6 months to collect them. He sold 3 of his melo pearls to me with better prices then my friend told me a year ago, but still they were not cheap prices.

I am lucky enough to own 3 very beautiful melo pearls. There are 2 pieces the same color and almost same shape, and the size pretty close as one is: 5.85 grams = 29,25ct and the other one is: 6.54grams = 32,70ct. They could be nice to make a pair of earrings, both of these melos pearl have a slight crack on the surface.

The big melo pearl is round and perfect with 14.65grams = 73,25ct.

These melo pearls are orangy color with flame and luster.

Thanks for your comment
by: Lanny

Dear Kari, I am very happy to read your comment and learned from Ray about the natural crack line of melo melo pearl, many thanks to Ray. To be honest with you, I love the pearl because of their natural beauty and luster, but my knowledge of melo is still limited, I spoke to some expert from Institute Gemmology and asked about it, but they have no idea when they saw these pearls. It is so nice to hear from any of you who know much more about the story of melo melo pearl.
Cheers,
Lanny

It's not a crack
by: Ray

Please be advised that it is not a crack.
It's so called "uncontinuous wavy line".
It occurs during the growing process in the snail. It is the proof of a genious natural melo pearl.

"Good Luck to you"

Very wise
by: Kari

I think you've made a very wise investment, especially since you love pearls so much and were willing to search these out and wait for the opportunity to see them.

I love the near perfect shape of these pearls and the vibrant colors are amazing.

Thanks for sharing and let us know if you find/purchase any more.
