Black Pearl Ship Launches in New Zealand

Black Pearl Ship Launches in New Zealand

One of the last launches of 2010 was the 31.5m Black Pearl (Hull DP-08), which entered the water in Whangarei, New Zealand, on December 29th, following a traditional Maori blessing ceremony.

The pre-dawn rituals of Takahi and the blessing ceremony began at 5am and were followed by a smooth launch at high tide, around 2pm. With her launch safely complete the Diverse Projects team are now finishing off the final touches on the interior, before sea trials commence shortly. The official handover and christening celebrations of Black Pearl are scheduled to take place in Auckland on January the 22nd, before she departs on her maiden voyage in February.
