Found what looks to be a Scallop Pearl in a Dungeness Crab Leg

by Kathie
(Edmonds WA)

I was eating a Dungeness Crab tonite and in it I found a pearl after I bit into it. It looks to be a scalloped pearl. Does this happen often? I have eaten a lot of crab and never found one till now.

3/7/08 looks just like the pearls in the picture and looks just like the one found in the King crab leg.

Resemblance
by: Kari

Maybe the resemblance of your "pearl" to the scallop pearls is in the luster area....as the pearls in the scallop pearl photo lack the luster you'll see, say, in the South Sea pearls.
Thanks for sharing your story....very interesting and I've also moved your submission to a new catagory for Crab Pearls, since we've heard from others about this as well. Please keep us informed about your find.
