Mark Found a Quahog Pearl

by Mark
(Wellfleet, Ma.)

Found one a few years back in Wellfleet, Ma. My immediate family has resided on the Cape during the summer for 57 years and we have dug literally thousands of quahogs and never found a pearl until that day when I was shucking a fresh batch and I found one, but only after almost eating it. It's nearly perfectly round and has all the characteristics of half purple and half white wampum. It's about the size of a popcorn kernel.
