New Jersey Woman Finds a Pearl at Harrah's Resort

A Galloway Township woman may have struck paydirt at Harrah's Resort, but not on the gaming floor.

Margaret LaFaye said she ordered seafood in the Reflections cafe last week, bit into a clam "and I got something in my mouth."

That "something" turned out to be a drop-shaped pearl. Oysters aren't the only mollusks that produce pearls. A Florida couple had a similar experience about a year ago while eating a clam dinner, and their purple pearl might have been worth thousands of dollars.

LaFaye said she plans to take the pearl to a jeweler for examination and appraisal. "Maybe I should put it on eBay or something," she joked.
