To make this story more interesting, I have it all on video, from the dive to pulling the 84 carat pearl out of the abalone.

The dive:

The pearl:

As I see listed on your site, I think I plan on taking it to Bonhams to get it valuated, and even set as a pendant.

Enjoy the videos :)

Hi everyone, this is my follow up story on my last posting " NorCal Abalone Pearl 6/18/11 on this site"

It took this long to dry out and have a jeweler fix it up.

Pendant setting is 14k X-1 white gold. Setting is a free form design, multi-piece lost wax casting, laser welded together.

I still haven't had it appraised yet, that is the next thing on my list of todo's.

Here is the video....

Thank you for your reply Kari...Yes I do record all my dives nowadays, its like my video log. I have a older youtube channel,

http://www.youtube.com/chaekilee

and my newer one, that uses the gopro head mount

I created FreeDiveAddict.com recently so my friends and I can hookup together and visit dive sites. We just went to Jade Cove on 4th of July, but it was too much swells for us to enter the water. We were going spearfishing and looking for Jade rocks.

Hello Chaeki,

Thanks for adding your pearl find and the interesting videos. Yes, you are right, videos add much to your post. Do you videotape all of your dives or was this just a "lucky" try when you happened to find a pearl?

I hope your are pleased with the free appraisal from Bonahams. That is a service many overlook. Appraisals are subjective so it is helpful to get more than one.
