Old Red Abalone Pearl

Old Red Abalone Pearl

This pearl came from a Red Abalone found near Cayucos, California and is over 100 years old. It was willed to my grandfather by the granddaughter of Capt. James Cass, the founder of the town of Cayucos.

Beautiful pearl
by: Kari

Hello Andy,

Your pearl is beautiful and rare since it has provenance or a history attached to it. Any time a gem has a personal history attached to it there is generally a higher value placed on it. So, in that regard, your pearl has more importance than any other similar abalone pearl. It's quite possible that locals or officials of Cayucos, California, especially would show keen interest in your pearl.

Thank you for letting us see a photo and learning about your pearl. It amazing that someone has kept track of it all this time.
