Paua Pearl

by Sonia Crystella
(Auckland NZ)

I have a Paua pearl that was given to my Grandmother by a the family of a Maori King 80 + years ago, she saved their lives when they had a terrible flu. The pearl was handed down to me by mother along with the story.

Paua pearl

Hi Sonia,

Your post sounds like it would make a great story or short movie. Wow, a gift from a Maori King and to think you still have the pearl...amazing.

Any chance of a photo? You can add up to 4 photos to another post and I'll add it to your page for you.

Abalone pearls

Did your grandmother make it into a pendant or other jewelry?

Also, why was your grandmother in another part of the world, was she a missionary or doctor? I love hearing all the details of these historical origins of pearls.

Can you elaborate? Thanks and God bless.
