Pearl Found in Fried Oyster

by Ralph
(Durham, NC)

Pearl from Fried Oyster

Pearl from Fried Oyster

While eating fried oysters at local restaurant in Raleigh, NC I thought I had bitten a shell.

This is what turned up. Any help in identifying the type is appreciated.

Pearl necklace NEW
by: Anonymous

I had the Jewelsmithe in Southern Pines take a pearl I found in a fried oyster in 2000 ata restaurant in calabash NC. He cleaned it and placed it in a tiny setting. I not only wore on my wedding day but wear it every single day and rarely take it off. He does great work and can be found in the phone book. His shop is on Broad Street in downtown Southern Pines. Good Luck.

Gray pearl - Raleigh, NC
by: margaret

I found a large grayish pearl in an oyster at 42nd Street O Bar. I sure would like to know where I could find a jeweler to extract it from the shell and perhaps fashion a necklace. Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks for sharing

Hi Ralph,

Thanks for sharing and for the photo. It's always nice to see a photo. Yours looks sort of yellowish by the picture. I wonder if the frying of the oyster has effected the color. What have you decided to do with it?
