Pearls Before Swine Comics

Pearls Before Swine comics won the reader poll in North Caroline last week. The popular comic strip by Stephan Pastis will now be a regular part of the Winston-Salem Journal. Pastis, a former lawyer launched his strip in 2002. Featuring a pig, rat, crocodiles and other characters, it appears in about 450 newspapers and eight books with a ninth coming out in March. That’s fantastic, Pastis said when told his strip had won the survey. I’m thrilled. It’s tough for young strips to get a foothold. Read my take on Pearls Before Swine. When I first started this website I wanted to use that populsr keyword and came up with three aspects--actual, spiritual and creative....the comics, of course. Like to match your wits against a nasty virtual pirate? Try the Pearls Before Swine Game....don't worry, I give a link to some clues if you get tired of losing.

"Pearls Before Swine’ creator Stephan Pastis
by WARD W. TRIPLETT III
(The Kansas City Star)
It has been almost six years since Stephan Pastis gave up practicing law to draw pigs and rats and dumb crocodiles in the comic strip “Pearls Before Swine.”
He still has no objections.
“Talk to any litigation lawyer, and 99 out of 100 all have some ‘out’ plan,” Pastis said. “When I said I was leaving, my colleagues at the firm looked at me like a cellmate must look at someone about to go over the wall. It was, ‘You go, brother.’ No one ever questioned me.

"Pearls Before Swine" Good Investments?
Because One Day I Will Die
Years ago, investment advisers told everyone to put their money in real estate. That didn’t work out.
Then they told everyone to put their money in stocks. That didn’t work out either.
So I have a new alternative.
Me.
That’s right. Buy books signed by Stephan Pastis and when I die, you’ll be rich.
And rest assured, I will die. That is my guarantee to you.

Fave Fan Anecdotes: 'Pearls Before Swine' & 'Hi and Lois'
STEPHAN PASTIS, creator, "Pearls Before Swine":
None of my strips ever received such a strong reaction as this one (about Israeli children killed in a bombing). It's from December 2003. ...Personally, I don't think I'll ever do a more meaningful strip. It generated over 2,500 e-mails -- way, way more than anything else I've ever done.
Because of the Internet, many of the e-mails were from people in Israel. Some had lost children in terrorist attacks. Some had close calls. Incredibly moving.

Pearls Before Swine: City of Gold
"City of Gold" was the fifth album made by American psychedelic folk group PEARLS BEFORE SWINE, and their third on Reprise Records. It was released in 1971. The album was the first to be credited to "Thos." (Tom) Rapp and Pearls Before Swine, rather than solely in the group's name. In fact, the group, which had been formed by Rapp and his friends in Florida in the mid 1960s, and which in its original incarnation had never performed live, had effectively ceased to exist by the time of their third album These Things Too, and subsequent albums had been recorded by Rapp with his wife Elisabeth and session musicians. "City of Gold" drew heavily on material left over from the recording of the previous Pearls album, The Use of Ashes, which had been recorded in early 1970 with the cream of Nashville's session musicians.
