Quahog Button Pearl

by Ross Paasche'
(Mashpee, MA. USA)

Quahog Button Pearl Pendant

Quahog Button Pearl Pendant

After a morning of 'bull raking' quahogs near my home, and during the chowder making process, I came upon a gorgeous multi-colored pearl.

Now set in 14k gold as a necklace, I gave it to my daughter as a graduation gift from college.

We have always wondered how common or uncommon they are and if they hold any value beyond sentimental.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Thanks for a great site.

Quahogs are rare
by: Kari

Hello Ross,

Quahog pearls are rare, even if there are many shared on my site.

I love the thought of putting your pearl in a nice setting and gifting it to your daughter. I think these beauties should be worn and appreciated by all. And yes, they do hold monetary value as well as sentimental value. Values vary greatly with the purple ones being the most desirable.

Your photo and pearl are lovely. Thanks for sharing.
