Quahog pearl - BBQ find

Found this pearl about 30 years ago at a fire dept. fundraising BBQ. Had gotten a plate of clams on the half shell and first thought it was a broken shell piece but then realized when touched it was a large pearl. The pictures don't capture the colors quite right it goes from deep purple to a soft white. Have had it stored in a jewelry box all these years any guess as to it's possible value.

Beautiful quahog pearl

Thanks for sharing about your amazing find while at a Fire Dept BBQ. That's a lovely pearl. I'm glad you were able to hang on to it all these years. These are becoming more and more in the news as folks become more aware of them. They are rare and often command high values. EGL in NYC appraises there between $200-800/ct. So if you ask a jeweler to weigh it you'll have a rough estimate of worth. Unfortunately, they often sell at lower prices than this as well.

I have a few for sale on my site here. The owners determine their own price. You are welcome to list yours as well, if you like. There is no fee to list. Please contact me if that interests you.

God bless,
Kari
