Size of Pearl Knotting Thread

Hi dear, I read through the instruction you wrote how to restring the pearls. The size of the string is size E, but what I find in the jewellery supply it is code with number. Would you tell me what number is size E equivalent to??

Gudebrod thread
by: Kari

It might help to know that Gudebrod silk thread, sizes "D" or "E" will work for stringing most pearls.

Corresponding Number Size
by: Kari

Hello Carol,

I've just done some searching and I think it depends upon the brand of thread you are using, but it should help to know that size E silk is .0128" or .325mm. #0, #1 & #2 are the numbers of thread most often used for pearls.

Happy Knotting!
Kari
