Twin Purple Pearls

Hi,

We went to Maui last February 2007, and luckily when we opened up an oyster it was there twin purple pearls.

Just wondering since it is a rare pearl, is it something valuable? I found once in the newspaper a couple found a purple pearl and according to the jeweller its worth something..

Please let us know...

Twin Purple Pearls
by: Relle K

For my 22nd birthday I visited Waikiki, Hawaii. During that trip I recieved my first pearls. All from the Maui Divers Jewelry store. My boyfriend and I picked 2 oysters, amazingly they both had twin pearls. The first oyster contained twin white pearls, the second had twin purple pearls. I myself was shaking as the salewoman mounted the white pearls on a set of earrings and the purple pearls on a single ring. I still manage to stop breathing when I put them on. A rare find indeed.

Thanks for comment

Gemologist, thanks for your comment. Just to let you know that I've altered your email address so it can still be recognized, but can't be harvested by nasty spammers.

I think these two pearls are exceptionally lovely.

Worth something
by: Gemologist

Anything that can be sold in an open market is worth something. I would buy them right now for $250, but I would be willing to bet that there are some people out there willing to pay 10 times that much, the problem is that generally only people who sell pearls like myself can find these high rollers. If you want more info, try going to www.pearl-guide.com or you can always email me or the owner of this website, almost anyone selling pearls would love to buy some naturals. thegemologist(at)gmail(dot)com

Exceptionally beautiful pearls
by: Kari

Hello Jaime and Florence,

I think your pearls are exceptionally beautiful with a high luster, deep rich colors, lovely spherical shapes, and near matching sizes.

I also love the fact that they are twins from the same oyster.

What are the size measurements?

Please tell us more about them. Did you find them accidently while eating oysters? Or were they from a "Wish Oyster" where you purchase an oyster guaranteed to have a pearl inside?

Thanks so much for sharing your photo and story. Look forward to learning more details.
