Hi Cynthia, I honestly have no clue as to why the necklace pinches you. It must be quite a heavy strand of pearls. Without seeing it there's no way to know if the knots are OK. The knots should fit tightly next to the pearls with no large gaps between pearls. I wear pearls quite frequently and have never had this problem. It may not always be possible, but it sounds like you'll be more comfortable if you could wear it so it goes under a collar at your neck. Thanks for asking your question. Maybe someone else can offer a solution.
