Do you know what sort of Pearls these are?

Are these South Sea Pearls?

Are these South Sea Pearls?

Found this necklace in Australia, given to me by an older lady. She doesn't know much about them but has had them for 30 years.

Testing
by: Kari

It's almost impossible to tell pearl types from a photograph. There was no size reference, so we also do not know the size. Have them tested to find out what type they are. A well trained jeweler may also be able to confirm what they are by looking at them. At first glance they look like Chinese freshwater pearls. My suggestion is to have them tested at a gemological lab or have an experienced jeweler look at them in person. Thanks for sharing your photo and question on Karipearls.com
