Pearl Knotting -- Pitiful First Attempts

by Kari
(Muscatine, Iowa)

My Pearl Knoting Has Improved

My Pearl Knoting Has Improved

My first attempts at pearl knotting were pitiful....my daughters made sure I knew that!

It took severl tries and lots of practice to perfect the art of pearl knotting....and I still need to learn some more detailed techniques like going back through the last three pearls, etc., but for the basics, it just takes practice.

Once I started opening up the thread and pulling it down to the knot after each knot to make sure it was as close as possible to the pearl, my necklaces turned out much better. That really made my knots a lot tighter and secure. It also helped me focus and keep a constant check on the knots. It's very frustrating to have knotted lots of pearls and then find out that one knot way back there had an extra loop or some such problem that needed correcting.

Thanks for reading my "How to Knot Pearls" page!

I'd love hearing about your pearl knotting adventures too.
