9yr Old Finds Pearl in Supermarket Oyster!

9yr old finds Pearl in Supermarket Oyster!

9yr old finds Pearl in Supermarket Oyster!

I was at the grocery store with my dad, brother, sister and cousin. While my dad was getting sandwich meat, I decided to check out the seafood counter. I am always interested in what they have. I asked my dad if I could have an oyster. He said to ask when the oysters arrived and if they were fresh. The seafood man told me, "they came into today", so I had him pick the biggest one out for me. I carried it all through the store and was so excited to take it home and eat it. Once home, I pried the oyster open with a butter knife. My dad helped me cut the oyster from the shell, and we felt a bump under the skin of the oyster. We pushed the bump out and it was a pearl! I was so excited! I ate the oyster with a little Chalula and it was great.....

Locket
by: Bim

That's awesome!
I suggest you buy a locket for your pearl.I would describe it as a necklace with a little cage where you can put your precious pearl inside and sport it like a trophy.

Book idea
by: Kari

Hi Caden, Oh, good, glad you liked the book idea. Check out Lulu.com. They can help create a book and only print them as they are sold, so it's a good option. Have fun!

Thanks for the comments!
by: Caden

Thank you for commenting on my pearl. I enjoy reading the comments with my family. I will consider the book idea and will work on it this summer with my cousin. She is staying with our family for a few more weeks and was with me when we got the oyster. If I can figure out I will post a pic of both of us with our pearl.

Thanks,
Caden

Congratulations!
by: Kari

Wow, Caden! Congratulations! Not everyone finds a pearl and especially not many 9 year olds! You'll have a treasure for life now. Let us know what you plan to do with it. It will be a keepsake with a neat story to tell of the day you bought an oyster at the supermarket. It sounds like a children's book idea to me. Maybe you could write a children's book about it and draw the pictures yourself. Let me know if you ever do that. I'd like to see it. Maybe I could even sell it for you on my site. Just an idea. I love thinking of ideas for kids. Might be a nice summer project. I appreciate that you took the time to let us know about it and sharing the photo too. Thanks and God bless!
