Clam Pearl - An Omen

Quahog Pearl - An Omen

Quahog Pearl - An Omen

Just wanted to share that 16 years ago I found a clam quahog pearl in the Indian River near Sebastian Inlet in Central Florida. This was an omen of how special the area was as we had planned to move to this area and were having a home built.

We really loved having this clam pearl and had it made into a ring (a special setting for this) as you can see from the pictures. The deeper color is on the bottom (in the ring mount) and can be seen when removed from ring.

We took this to jewelers and as you know, it takes a special appraiser to let you know the value so we do not have an appraisal. However, it is larger than the one that was just found in Lake Worth.

Would you be able to help us locate an appraiser to find the true value? We would consider selling the pearl at this time.

Thank you for this site and feel free to contact me regarding this pearl.

Regards,

Talk to Betty Lin at Christie's in New York. She is the Pearl Expert and can tell you what it is worth.

Current Prices Being Paid
by: Kari

Hi, Your pearl is beautiful! What a great and surprising find! Lucky you. I'm glad you can enjoy it as a ring.

I talked with a fellow today who pays about $200/carat for purple or lavender Quahog pearls. For white clam pearls the price is $50+/carat.

These natural pearls are most often sold by weight and other characteristics also count, like shape, condition, color, size.

There are maybe other markets as well, but that is at last one practical price point to consider, if you're thinking about selling your pearl.

Your local jeweler may be able to help you out with finding your pearl's carat weight.

Of course, being in a setting would certainly add additonal value to your pearl.

Rare Find

Your pearl ring is wonderful...a gift from mother earth that cannot be matched. The only thing that comes close in my view is the birth of a child. I wish you great joy and look forward to having tea someday.
