Off White Quahog Pearl Found

Question: My mom found a pearl in a quahog that is off white with kind of a yellow tint, about 0.4CM and egg shaped.

We would like to know how much it is worth.

Answer: Right now, the wholesale price for Quahog pearls is $200 per carat weight....for nice purple Quahog pearls. The price is lower for white ones.

Some folks are hoping the price will rise for Quahog pearls after the famous Goulash brooch sells. That sale could aid in establishing new price levels for these natural pearls.

Natural pearls are most often sold by weight rather than size. Maybe a local jeweler would be kind enough to weigh yours for you.

Lucky you....for finding a pearl, for sure it is a personal treasure, no matter what the monetary value.

Never at $200 per carat! NEW

Oh nonsense. Don't even consider selling lavender to deep purple colored 'hog pearls for a paltry $200 per carat. Plain white ones or cracked ones, maybe, but any nice sized colored pearls are worth much Much MUCH more! Someone, ahem, very carefully keeps the buyers & sellers separate, in order to collect commissions... so FIND YOUR OWN buyers!
