Pearl Inside King Crab leg?

Pearl Inside King Crab leg?

January 2008 -- I don't know if this is a pearl or not. We were eating King Crab legs at a restaurant in Naples, Florida and my mother bit into this little round ball. It looks like a scallop pearl to me but how would it have gotten into a King Crab leg? Do you know if this is a scallop pearl?

Bit into something...
by: Anonymous

I bought some king crab and went home to eat it. I bit into something hard. It fell on my plate and I didn’t know what to think of it. It’s a beautiful pink and purple iridescent pearl. I have some debt to pay off. Is it worth anything? It’s about the size of a chiclpea

This just happened to me.
by: Helen

Mother's day 2013, decided to thaw some king crab legs and bit on something very hard while eating my crab leg. I really, really hope that this is a sign of good luck, I could truly use some after the past few years.

Crab legs
by: CC

I was at home eating snow crab legs and bit into what looks to be a pearl. I knew what it was as soon as I saw it but thought this really has to be rare.

Crab Pearl in Alaska
by: Bill McCreary

On 4-14-09, Michelle and I were having King Crab legs for dinner. As I opened up one of the large legs, a pearl fell out on my plate! It's all white, a bit lumpy looking, and about 1/4" in diameter.

Nice to know...
by: Anonymous

It is nice to know that other people have found the same type of pearl in a King Crab Leg. You can see that I knew nothing of pearls at the time we found ours. If any of you have any information of the value or ideas about the use of these unusual finds, I would be glad to hear about it! Keep eating those crab legs!!!

King Crab Pearl @ Outback
by: Sherry Baker

I was eating a king crab leg last night and as I took the fork and pulled out the crab meat, out fell a pearl! I asked the manager if she had ever seen anything like that and she said, no -- maybe it is a joint. I don't think king crab's have joint. This is a small round pearl about the size of a frozen pea. Amazing! I googled it and found this blog. I hope this brings me good luck because I lost my job this week. I feel blessed.

Another pearl (from a king crab leg )
by: susan

I purchased some king crab legs from a popular named grocery store. I had to go to 2 different stores before I could find any. I purchased all that they had left.

I cooked this dinner special for my father-in-law. He is currently undergoing treatment for cancer. He loves crab!

We're sitting at the dining table, when he say's, look at this. He extends his hand out open with what looks like a pearl in it. He said, he got out of the leg.

We couldn't believe what we were seeing. His wife looked it up on the internet.

She came back to us and said; it is rare to find a pearl in a crab leg and it supposed to be good luck. I truly hope it is!

It's white, not a totaly smooth surface with some orange looking color on it. Also it looks darker underneath in some spots. Its fairly large too. Don't know for sure if it is a pearl, but its a great story none the less.

We FOUND ONE.... A iridescent pinky-lavender pearl
by: Joy Braverman

My significant Other came home and suggested we eat some King Crab that we had stored in the freezer since January, 08... we each had a leg. When he was nearly finished, he made a 'sound' like a little grunt, fished into his mouth and plucked out a PEARL from the leg meat... He plopped it onto MY dish and said, LOOK, "I found a pearl in the King Crab..." I looked at him quizzically - I never heard of PEARLS in crab... let alone King Crab. I got ONTO the net after placing this unusual colored gem into a plastic bag and labeling it with date, 3/4/08, the situation etc., and entered "King Crab Pearls" into my Google Search... here was THIS story on THIS page.

I was excited BEFORE but now, I'm so excited at this, I'm beside myself.

Where can I go to have this documented and evaluated? What to do????

See this article....
by: Kari

Hi Terri,

Your entry is very interesting.

See this article in TheFacts.com. Bay City Woman Finds Pearl in Crab.

I've summarized the story here:
Stone Crab Pearl.

I think yours could be a similiar "pearl". And if that is the case, I think you have a very, very rare and possibly valuable "pearl".

But I doubt that it is a scallop pearl, the chances of that are very remote, in my opinion.

Thanks for sharing.
