Purple Pearl Found at a Raw Oyster Bar

working at a raw bar years ago....
opening clams and oysters...
had a hard time with this one ...
with much surprise to find......
a pearl....
but it was still growing....
is it real?
is it rare?

Hi Sean,

What do you mean by "it was still growing?" Was the pearl attached to the shell? If so, it is called a blister pearl and would never separate once attached to the shell. However, I'm not sure that's what you mean.

For sure, yes, you could have found a pearl and I would say it is also rare as any natural pearl is considered rare these days.
