Quahog Pearl Ring

Quahog Pearl Ring

Sometime in the fifties my Dad got a second job working as a short order cook at a pub that featured a raw oyster and clam bar on the weekends. He brought home this pearl.

It didn't really look like a pearl so he didn't think much about it.
But anyway he put it in a little box and put it in a drawer.

After my Dad died I asked a jeweler to put it in a setting for me. It has been there ever since. And when I saw a picture of a Quahog pearl I had to send you a picture of my ring.
Can you tell me if it actually is a Quahog pearl, and if the pearl itself has any value other than sentimental.

Lovely quahog pearl ring
by: Kari

Hello Bernice,

Thank you for submitting your lovely quahog pearl ring to my site.

Yes, quahog pearls are quite valuable. EGL, a gemological lab in NYC appraises quahog pearls between $200-800/carat, so your ring certainly has more than just sentimental value. The ring design is very nice, by the way.

Thanks for sharing your treasured quahog pearl ring with us.

Much appreciated,
Kari
