What is this quahog pearl worth?

IT HAS A TWO TONE COLOR, gray blueish AND WHITE!

Kari's note: I notice that your quahog pearl has a crack. Unfortunately, cracks greatly reduce the value of quahog pearls.

Purple quahog pearl ring NEW
by: Mimi

I inherited this ring & was told they were purple moonstones but it’s clearly not & looks more like quahog pearls. It’s set in a heavy 16 gram 18k gold ring & there seems to be a QP engraved on the inside . I’ll try to post pics

Found on Narragansett bay
by: Anonymous

I found this what looks to be a pearl while vacationing in Rhode Island on the Narragansett bay side. It is gritty while rubbing gently on the front of my tooth. And cold to the touch. I have not tried to clean it. It's exactly the way I found it on the beach when the tide had went out.

quahog pearl values
by: Kari

Hello, Quahog values vary greatly from very little to very much. One lab that appraises quite a few quahog pearls said that nice ones can be appraised at $600-800/carat. I've seen them sell for much higher than that at auctions as well.

Quahogs with strong violet color demand the highest prices. A round lighter colored "bull's eye" generally lowers the value.

I do see a crack in your white quahog pearl. Unfortunately, cracks greatly diminish the value of pearls. It would probably be best as a keepsake in that case.
