AKOYA NATURAL PEARL

I live in a small country town in South Australia. Mybeach 20 mins up the road we go scolloping and razor fishing and there has been so many akoya oyster that are not native that are swamping the razor fish. My partner growing up in a shack here has been opening and eating them since forever. 2 years have passed and we thought they were worthless but we collected some for fun and i can't wait to get a video opening them so people can verify this themselves. I'm actually so confused how they are rare. The akoya is a pest to to local invironment

Wow! How fun!
by: Kari

Hello Samantha,

Wow, how fun to find natural akoya pearls. The photo is small but I can still see how lovely these pearls are. And yes, please do make a video of you opening the shells. That would be great to see as well. If you do, I can add it to this page for you.

Thanks for sharing and keep enjoying those fresh eats.

God bless,
Kari
