Golden Pearl Ring

Golden Pearl Ring

I just found this ring in a lovely little vintage shop in my area. It wasn't expensive, but it is a treasure and will be one of my favorites.

It appears to be Asian made with fish motifs and there is a Chinese type character in the back with no other metal markings. I'm very curious about the metal.

To me, although I am not an expert, the pearl looks like it could be a natural one...maybe this is wishful thinking, but it has some lovely unique characteristics to it...and I would love it even if it was a cultured pearl.

The ring is so glamorous and unusual.

I'd be interested in any information anyone can give me about this ring.

Worth 50 times what I paid...just for the gold!
by: Anonymous

Hi,

You are probably right about this ring being 24K gold. I took it to a gold appraiser yesterday and at first glance that was also his guess. Then he tested it and it tested to be over 22K, so it's quite possibly 24K. His test didn't go that high, or some such thing. Anyway, his test showed it was more than 22K.

I was thrilled.

The value just for the gold alone, not to mention the fact that it's an antique ring, is over 50 times what I paid for it!

Boy, I think I'll put poking around local second hand shops on my regular list of activities.

It was a good day!

If you can show me the picture of the back, I may be able to help you with the meaning of the chinese character.

Gorgeous
by: Kari

I think this ring is gorgeous! I don't know who wouldn't fall in love with it..but it might be a bit "fussy" for some gals. I love the details, one could get "lost" in the motifs and come out with a romantic novella.
