My Girl With a Pearl

Create your version of Girl with a Pearl Earring for a chance to hang in the Vermeer Room at the Mauritshuis.

Johannes Vermeer, the painter of the Girl, will receive special attention in 2023. From early February to early June, there will be a major Vermeer exhibition at the Rijksmuseum. Of course, Girl with a Pearl Earring cannot be missed, which is why she will leave for Amsterdam for a short period.

But, don't be afraid of an empty spot on the wall. On the contrary! This sleepover offers a unique opportunity. For we invite all creative admirers to a special open call: create your version of Girl with a Pearl Earring and stand a chance of hanging in the Vermeer Room of the Mauritshuis.

The rules? There are few. Surprise us! A self-portrait with a bath towel as a turban, a painted iron or even a pile of crockery: nothing is too crazy for us. Because almost everyone knows the painting, the Girl is easy to recognise. The distinctive colours, shapes and typical use of light: before you know it, there she is.
