My husband regularly wears strands of pearls!

I love pearls and so does my husband. Over the years He has bought me numerous necklaces and a couple of years ago whilst on holiday we found one we liked. He helped me undo the necklace I was wearing and fastened the new one for me. We decided to buy it and when the assistant asked if I wanted the old one wrapped, I don't know what came over me, but I said "No. He'll wear it. And he did and has done ever since. I've given him necklaces for birthdays and Christmases and he loves them. I choose which ones he'll wear - trying not to make them too obvious - longer strands inside a collar and any length or number under a polo necked jumper. When we are away from home I usually open an extra button or 2 on his shirt so I, and everyone else can see the necklace(s).

Hi - Interesting!
by: Kari

Thanks for sharing your adventure. It's interesting that the pearls have gotten so much attention. I think we'll be seeing more and more of this. After all the Indian Maharajahs have been wearing them for centuries and also the American Indian Chiefs...so why not? I think Henry VIII was also quite fond of them. If your husband gets really brave, please send a photo or two!

Holiday pearls
by: Anonymous

I found this page (accidentally) when looking for something else before we went on holiday this year and thought - why not.
Ive always worn pearl necklaces and packed a few different ones. The first night as we were getting ready to go out I pretended to be unsure which necklace to wear so I asked Brian. He chose a 3 strand (always been my favourite) I put it on and asked which one hed choose if it was for him. He said he couldn't decide so I said Id choose for him. He seemed to like this idea, so I got him to try them all before finally settling for a longish 2 strand. He liked the feel and the way they looked. He fastened a button so they weren't too visible and off we went. Well, I didn't know what Id started - he loved wearing the necklaces and became more and more adventurous - wearing them openly and even wore a string or 2 when we were lounging by the pool. People we met seemed unable to resist asking about his pearls - most men were unsure but the ladies loved them and thought he really suited them.
Now we're home he's carried on wearing them only not openly yet!! It'll happen, I'm sure.
Thank you very much for enlightening us.

Maybe you'll start a new trend
by: Kari

Hi Lou, Maybe your husband will start a new trend of men wearing pearl strands. It's more and more common to see men wearing a single Tahitian on a leather strap, but men wearing strands of pearls is rare, although I did make a strand for a local fellow here once, although he wanted a leather tie rather than a clasp. Also, men seem to like wearing a single, chunky abalone pearl. I think your husband is brave and a real pacemaker. In days gone by pearls on men were quite a status symbol.
