"I've only done two or three cakes around here that were covered with scrolls or something," Fowler said. "The most different cake I've done was covered in pearls. There must have been 4,000 pearls on that cake. The bride brought me the picture and that was what she wanted."
Isabel Bayer, owner of Cakes by Isabel in Waterloo, said the influx of fondant and sugar-flower requests has allowed her to elevate the designs she turns out. Bayer, who likes to focus her efforts on wedding cakes, finds inspiration online, on shows like WEtv's "Amazing Wedding Cakes," and in her brides' dresses.
"Brides are looking for a more fancy style," Bayer said. "These shows have opened their eyes to what is out there and what they can have."Read entire article about pearl cake here.
