Two Pearls in One Oyster

by Bethany
(san diego, ca)

I'm in the Navy and recently had a port call in Hawaii. While I was there, I stopped at a kiosk with a friend and picked out the grossest looking oyster I could. Tradition in Hawaii is to tap on the oyster and say a blessing. They opened my oyster and surprisingly I had two pink pearls inside. The man said it was really rare for that to happen and good luck. He asked if I had twins in my family and I said no but maybe I will now. Trying to get pregnant and would be very happy to have twins. :)

Twin Peacock Iearls
by: Lisa

I was in Jersey on honeymoon a d picked an oyster. When opened it revealed two black Pearl's.Apparently rare and for good luck. I had them made into earrings. The drilling did slighly discolour one, but I felt lucky nonetheless xx

Can not find the meaning of my two pearls been searching for hours
by: Jennifer

They could even be the same color just one darker than the other. But just like that one story about the two pink pearls means a set of twin babies. What would two peach pearls mean? Or if they are not the same one is peach and the other is cream. It has to mean something. Please someone help me figure out what my two pearls mean, it's driving me crazy.

I think so
by: Kari

Hello,

I think it is possible for there to be two different colors of pearls in an oyster.

I know it is possible in a cultured freshwater mussel. I've seen that for sure.

But I think it is also possible for natural pearls.

Thanks for asking!

Maybe someone else can shed some light on the subject as well.

Sea World Surprise
by: Anonymous

While at Sea World San Diego I took my daughter to the Hawaiian Pearl shop they have there. I figured why not, her birthday is 2 weeks away and this is her birth stone, so I picked the ugliest one there (although the selection was small) and to our surprise we got twin pearls. They are a goldish tone and now my 5 yr old daughter has pearl earrings...

2 pearls
by: Kari

Hi Bethany!

Wow, 2 pearls, lucky for you. Did you make them into earrings? I imagine it was a "wish pearl" oyster, right? Those are becoming quite popular and it's fun to hear about them. It brings the reality home as to where pearls originate.

Bethany, thank you for serving our country in the navy! We appreciate all you must do to help keep our citizens safe. I have a son in the army who is a 2nd Lieutenant and also son who is a marine Corporal. They'll both be home for Christmas which will be thrilling for me!

If you want to email me a photo of your pearls I'd be happy to add it to your page. You can email me at karipearls (AT) gmail (DOT) com

Thanks again, Bethany, for sharing and may God bless you!
