my surprise quahog pearl

my surprise quahog pearl

It was an unusually warm week for October in NJ. We decided to stay at our little happy place longer than planned. Went clamming in Barnegat Bay last Wednesday - did well. Today I was cleaning the clams for New England chowder and found a pearl! I am so excited. Want to get appraised - might make necklace, might sell.

Wahoo! Congratulations!

Hi Maureen,

Wow, congratulations! What a lovely pearl and a nice reward for staying longer because of the nice weather.

EGL lab in NYC appraises these between $200-800/carat. That might help you put an estimated value on your pearl.

I'm sure your New England chowder was yummy.

Keep clamming, maybe you'll find another pearl!
