ATLANTIC CANADA SCALLOP PEARLS

Hi Kari. I've visited your site in years past. I work on a boat dragging scallops in Atlantic Canada. I only fished one day this year as I was supposed to be fishing lobster instead but with covid we are still waiting to see if we set our traps this week. The photo is of the pearls I gathered on that one day this year. I have made jewelry from these Pearl's before, had a jeweler fashion a gold ring around a nice specimen from my collection for a girl who lived across the Northumberland straight in New Brunswick. I hope she still has it after all this time. Is there a market for non cultivated pearls in times such as these? Thank you for your platform to see and share pearls of the world

Hello A. Reeves, Yes, for sure there is a growing market for non cultivated pearls such as your natural scallop pearls. Folks are catching on to the fact that natural pearls are super special and their rarity makes them sought after treasures.

Thanks so much for sharing your story and photo and also for your kind words about my website.

Much appreciated! God bless, Kari
