Christmas Quahog Pearl Surprise

Christmas Quahog Pearl Surprise

Every year at Christmas, we have a tradition of having a feast of seafood. Three years ago, my husband picked up some quahogs and oysters at a local fish market in Grande Digue, NB. He was opening a quahog and saw that there was something different. He thought it was a rock at first. It was very black and then it slowly changed colors. It changed to a beautiful purple color. We knew this was something very rare.

Hi Kari: Thanks for posting my picture. I have the shell also and was wondering how and where we could get this appraised. (not that we would sell it). We are just curious .

Thanks

Carol

Wow, lucky you!

What a neat Christmas tradition and what a neat surprise. You could buy a jewelry cage and put it on a chain and enjoy it. I like cages because you don't need to drill the pearl. Yours is a beauty!
