Pearl found in RI Quahog (Little Neck) Clam

by Ken Wunschel

Obviously Rare.

To my wife's surprise, almost broke her tooth.
I am going to have it set in a gold pendant necklace.

Been clam'min successfully fer 25 years, this is the first time I've seen anything like it this size!
Might make a good story.

My husband and I often get clams, and we recently had little neck clams. I found something hard in clam and pulled it out. I believe its a pearl, never found one before, but it looks a lot like pearl in picture on this site, Fun to find stuff like this.

Shows they are rare
by: Kari

Hello Ken,

Wow, if you've been clamming for 25 years it shows how rare these quahog pearls are. I'm glad you finally found a "keeper" for yourself. It would be lovely in a gold pendant necklace. A true keepsake for future generations and a wonderful reminder of clamming.

Thanks for sharing. I never get tired of hearing about or seeing these natural quahog pearls!

Take care.
