Purple Pearl Found in Massachusetts

I live in Dartmouth ma.and was demolishing a skating ring outside Boston and decided to bring raw little necks for lunch. As I opened them I noticed one had a pearl in it.It's a little smaller than a pea, purple, round with a flat side. After a few days i went to my jeweler and he said it was worthless(this was about 22yrs.ago).I still kept it and had him make a ring with 14k gold.He drilled a hole on the flat side and mounted it on a post.My girlfriend still has it,i hope he didn't ruin it by drilling? DOES ANYBODY KNOW?

Rare pearl
by: Anonymous

You actually found an extremely rare pearl if it was purple. The quahog it came from is abundant in the area, but the purple ones appear 1 in every two million.

Since they drill pearls for necklaces,I don't think it would hurt the value,if any.
